Welcome to our Podcast Showcase series! We are featuring one podcast each time. We’ll give you a short overview about the people behind the microphone! They share the process they use to podcast efficiently, including tips and recommended tools used for their podcasts and more. The Podcast Showcase series is brought to you by Podcastpage.io – The Best Podcast Website Builder.
This time we are joined by Manuel from the Everyone is Moving to Berlin Podcast. We’re excited to share Manuel’s insights on his podcasting, what goes into planning and recording each episode, some podcast stats and lastly – a few helpful tools you can use too!
Everyone is Moving to Berlin Podcast
Hey Manuel, thanks for joining us! What is your podcast all about?
Our podcast is all about making moving to Berlin a less scary and complicated endeavor. We share our personal stories of moving to and living in Berlin, and provide tips and advice from folks who have already made Berlin their home.
What’s the background or premise of your podcast?
Jae, who is from the US, moved to Berlin in 2021 from Austin, Texas. Manuel, who is from Germany, has lived in Berlin off and on for the last 10 years. Manuel felt like whenever he met someone who just moved to Berlin, there were quite a lot of tips and stories he wanted to share — and thought that doing so publicly on a podcast could have a much bigger impact than just doing it individually. When he told Jae about the idea of starting this podcast, he was so excited that they decided to launch it together.
How do you plan or prepare each episode?
We have a long list of topic ideas and guest ideas on Notion and work our way through them. We have amazing listeners who provide topic and guest ideas.
Can you share some podcast stats with us?
Typically, each episode gets 700 to 800 IAB downloads within the first 30 days. Honestly, we started out with almost these numbers because of our existing projects / followings and the numbers have stagnated a bit — which is why we’re trying to get the word out about the show.
Do you have any tips for fellow podcasters?
We’re doing this podcast on the side and have very little time that we can invest. Still, we find it’s absolutely worth it to set aside some time and deliver the show on a weekly basis. To cut down on editing time, a friend of Manuel’s built a custom tool that let’s us mark chapters and edit points while recording, then load those Markers into Audition. It’s all about doing the best you can with the time and resource you have available!
What podcasting tools are you using?
1) Libsyn – Podcast Hosting
2) Audition, Auphonic – Editing
3) RodeCaster Pro + Rode Procaster – Microphones
4) Podcastpage – Website Builder
6) Notion (for episode prep), Timed Notes to mark edit points and chapter while recording.
