Fintechpodden Podcast

Tell us what is your podcast all about?

Fintechpodden is a podcast about finance and technology. We interview leaders, founders and other interesting personalities and knowledgeable people within the industry. Examples of interviews include people from head of Alipay in Europe to smaller fintechs such as Anyfin and Minna Technologies. We talk about different topics in each episode.

What’s your podcasting background/experience.

We are two cofounders/cohosts and it all started with us discussing a lot of fintech topics while we were both doing an internship at a big IT consultancy firm and technology provider to banks in the nordics. We thought, why don’t start a podcast and do something productive out of our conversations. So we did that and we started out by borrowing good microphones from friends and family and then we just started to record. After a while (about 10 episodes) we started to invite guests and after about 20 episodes we switched from Swedish to English since there are so many people from different countries working in this industry and we wanted to be able to invite guests outside of Sweden.

Are there any podcast stats you want to share?

We have about 25.000 downloads over our 60 episodes so far, so on average it is about 400-500 listeners per episode. During 2020 we have interviewed about 35-40 people and the podcast have grown a lot during the year. We hope to grow even more in 2021.

How do you plan or prepare each episode?

We plan by putting together a google document with research/background information about the guests and in that document we also build a bank of questions. We usually send over the document to the guest and asks for feedback a couple of days before the recording of the episode. Sometimes we get really good input from our guests and suggestions for more questions. That is always very welcome.

What podcasting tools are you using?
  1. Podcast host – Anchor.fm
  2. Remote recording – Zencastr. You get a file for each participants which is nice.
  3. Microphone – Yeti Blue 3D.
  4. Website builder – Podcastpage.io.
  5. Social media- we promote it on LinkedIn mostly. Then some Instagram and Twitter as well.
Any tips for fellow podcasters?

Choose a niched area. There are already a lot of good podcasts out there. The more niched you are, the better chances you have to become the go to podcast for that specific niche/topic. Don’t think so much, just start record some of your conversations. Become better by listening to it and adjust accordingly. Push out the episode and ask your listeners for feedback.
