Podcast Showcase – The Ghost Podcast

September 26, 2021

Welcome to our Podcast Showcase series! We are featuring one podcast each time. We’ll give you a short overview about the people behind the microphone! They share the process they use to podcast efficiently, including tips and recommended tools used for their podcasts and more. The Podcast Showcase series is brought to you by Podcastpage.io – The Podcast Website Builder.

Today we are interviewing Clover & Rosemary from The Ghost Podcast.

The Ghost Podcast

Hey Clover & Rosemary. Can you tell us what is your podcast all about?

Have you ever been ghosted? Ghosting has been re-branded as the new silent treatment, and it’s not ok. The Ghost Podcast is a platform to talk about the feelings of being ghosted, share stories, and hear from people on all aspects of ghosting in order to engage society in what this really means and feels like.

We hope through sharing stories and engaging in conversations we can begin to move away from this hurtful practice.

What’s the story behind your podcast?

Clover and Rosemary met on a dating site and instantly became friends, sharing dating stories with each other. They realized that they seemed to live oddly parallel dating lives and both noticed this strange phenomenon of ghosting. After both had several experiences with emotional ghosting, they decided to launch The Ghost Podcast, a podcast created to share stories about the experiences of ghosting.

Basically, our podcast is to share stories from those who have been silenced by the silent treatment, to give them a voice where that has been taken away by their ghoster. However we also want to hear from actual ghosters, to get their side of the story. We really want to have an all around conversation about this experience.

How do you plan or prepare each episode?

We are featuring listener stories. Once someone contacts us to share their story, we set up a time to record with them. Once their story is recorded, it’s edited and ready for upload. We pull quotes from the episode to post our Instagram page. Also, we are planning some other types of episodes, such as an educational episode on what ghosting is, why it’s so painful, how to cope afterwards and what you can do/say instead of ghosting. We also hope to have a therapist on to discuss as well.

Can you share some podcast stats with us?

Since starting out in August 2021 (a month prior to this post), the podcast has seen more than 500 downloads. Now that’s some nice traction when you’re just getting started!

Do you have any tips for fellow podcasters?

It feels hard to get started. We didn’t get any listener stories right away. Then we partnered with another podcast on the same topic, but discussing a totally different aspect. Through that partnership we started to grow the listener base. We still are very early on, so we are still strategizing the best way to grow – but don’t give up!

What podcasting tools are you using?

We record with Zoom, then I edit the audio in Audacity. It’s uploaded to Buzzsprout. We use Podcastpage to host our website. Though it’s not a podcasting tool, we are also heavily reliant on Instagram to promote the podcast. We post quotes from the episodes there, and are trying to grow the listener base by using hashtags and following hashtags to comment on posts that are relevant to our topic.
